the plant in me
is drowning in rain
with my doubts floating away
or collecting at the drain
of a shower that won't be mine
but the windows are clean
i wish i was renovating
instead of reinventing
or living out of a suitcase
but i own a bed now
and yellow rain boots
to waddle in my tears
or my irrational fears
of having to downsize
again, to accommodate
myself and my ambitions
my car has no brakes
and that's the speed
i'm rolling down this hill
on the wrong side of town
to jump over the pit
of darkness ahead
i've worn a wool sweater
for most of the summer
on the flip side:
i got the soup
and the sock fits
