handcuffs unchained

remember when we used to dream?
of living at the edge of the Westfjords
dragging the data cable over mountains
and living my best remote days
it's never about being all alone
one wouldn't survive that
trust me, I've practiced in the cities
it's about community
building the life you want to have
without trying to squeeze yourself
into the box of "this is fine"
where your rectangular apartment
looks exactly the same as your neighbours'
this is why I want to study behavioural science
because who convinced y'all of this?
is the suburbia killing all of your creativity?
or have you never known it because you never left?
arguing that it's just so much easier like this
care-free, everything is right around the corner
how often do you take that corner?
the world is your playground
and you're choosing to stay in a prison
of your mind, the hyper-individualistic society
and whichever platform is the hype today
my honest attempt of healing my mind
of the scars of a 9-5
so i could go back to a 9-5
that i've spent all my waking hours
fighting to escape
strangled by my choices in the suburbs
so far from where I should be
someone's listening to their
head over heart again
I'll show myself out
