week seventeen

Thank you (cleanup crew from) Europe!

a short week to breathe

between the trips

to prepare for the next one

last minute as always

our life is so hard

the four months here

were obviously not enough

we have to see

the whole island

within three weeks

had a rest in Red Cross

let the cat inside

because it wanted

to go outside

the tourists are taking over

is it time to feel worried?

we are not vaccinated

Iceland dropped the mask

now we have to smile

to the staff of Bónus

while buying 75 of the 100

bananas available in the store

and explain why we need

16 cans of red kidney beans

for one week

a spontaneous cleanup

with the army of blue

and the people who say

the European Union

when asked where they’re from

collected half a bag of trash

and a full bag of wind

which cleared the trash

back to the ocean itself

spent some hours

in Salvation Army

the bus ride to and back

took already two

the plokkfiskur for lunch

another one

an Icelander told me

I look Icelandic

and was surprised I think

it’s a good thing

fake it ’til you make it?

a surprise birthday party

for the best Slovakian

in our house

now we know

what you need

to entertain a birthday child

yoga and meditation

and what you need to say

to get people into your house

my laundry is there

first non-vegan dessert

in a long time

did not make it to her

without meeting the floor first

the love mixed inside

kept it together

and all is forgiven

a new project

to spend our evenings

the Stockfish Film Festival

where we volunteer

check tickets, clean rooms

in addition to watching movies

eating pizza and popcorn

I just wish

the fish festival

wasn’t just the name

the oddest movies

I would never choose myself

but as long as I find

a hand or two

to hold on to

for the occasional horror scenes

that aren’t scary

I’m here to volunteer

we never watch movies

together in Mikla anymore

The infamous tide line.
Last day before vacation – porridge with a view!
Plokkfiskur tastes great – try it if you can! (It’s cod mixed with mashed potatoes)
Fish festival crew!
Mask-free shopping!
