week sixteen: eurovision

This is what happiness looks like.

once, in the beginning

of my journey here

I had this small dream

that no one knew about

it’s not a hard one

a wild guess

would have been enough

I wanted to watch Eurovision

together with all

the different nationalities

gathered right here

the most diverse group of friends

we have 14 Eurovision nations

in addition to Hungary

who this year

didn’t even try

watched the first semi-final

alone on Viðey

the second semi-final

together with 15 people

at the only bar

with the football table

comedic commentary

and Eurovision bingo

flames, wink, wind machine

key change or key chain

you name it, it’s there

nevertheless

Estonia didn’t make it

but our favourites

Iceland and Finland, did

for the grand final

same people, same location

created a betting table

fourteen people cared

about four categories:

Iceland’s and last place

people’s and overall winner

no-one got it

completely right

neither did the bookies

I created a sign

Play ja ja dong dong!

please return

when you understand

this reference

and why Iceland’s votes’ presenter

was the most hilarious guy out there

why haven’t You

watched the Eurovision movie?

(I’ll keep asking until you do)

the predicted winner

Italy, actually won

somehow it all made sense

we had been prepared

with Italian music

for at least the last month

they didn’t even care

until they won

we’ll never hear

the end of it

found the new

motto of M40

Cyprus’ song El Diablo

stuck in my head for days

the lyrics make it clear

Hotter than sriracha on our bodies

if you know, you know

it all makes sense

and dreams do come true

thank you for being there ❤️
