week fourteen

All 28 seeds.

one more Italian arrived

why do we even learn Icelandic

we just need Italian classes

but now we are complete

15 to 24 people

in one month

there’s no such thing

as quiet afternoons

only a call center

set up at the kitchen table

the most rapidly growing

establishment in Iceland

the chill camp continued

with cultural visits

to the whales and Per[t]lan

an overdose of information

open mic comedy night

so painfully bad

even we couldn’t save it

for the camp’s last day

we finished the puzzle

it took all of us

a total of 6 months

and 1496 pieces

after 2 weeks

of constant sunshine

we decided to try

to swim in the ocean

waited for the hot pool to close

(please forgive, we’re volunteers)

to lay in the warm water

until there was none left

run into the ocean

I was the only one

who didn’t swim

the weakest Estonian I know

but my friends are awesome

a busy weekend

of two parties

steadily turning

my dessert recipes

into vegan equivalents

a coastal cleanup

the first of 30 this year

pulling out fish nets

packaging material

and the occasional shoe

refresh yourself

with croissants afterwards

being in the flow

make a detour

to the volcano

park next to

the newest hot dog stand

only if you’re willing

to share the pastries

with the rescue team

and pick up the trash

on your way to the hill

I’m not saying

it’s getting boring

but we went there

only exciting things:

it’s raining lava

the moss is burning

and the floor is crunchy

couldn’t even cook

the marshmallows this time

I even had the sticks

fourth time is an abundance

on this island

the sun doesn’t care

about East and West

the sunrise and sunset

are always in the North

losing sense of time

hours of sleep

but gaining

the most beautiful sunsets

have you already understood

how much I love sunsets?

The volcano still looks like a volcano.
Il bacio – 4 pieces.
Us in the lagoon next to the ocean. Warmer than I thought, but not the ocean.
Why catch fish when you can catch fishnets instead?
Why go for a swim at the beach when you can pick up trash instead?
See the helicopters on top of the hill? That’s where we were a week ago during the night.
Beach cleanup crew!
