week thirteen: camp

The camp crowd including one person who does not understand Italian (me).

three months in

my second real camp

this is it, guys

finally my time to shine

this is why I’m here, right?

two wonderful participants

six crazy camp leaders

the second unofficial language

is Italian

and all of the meals are vegan

for the same reason

the first camp

stressed me out

the second camp

is the most chill thing ever

we do yoga and meditate

to the sounds of nature

surrounding us

in the awakening botanical garden

sit in the sun

hug our favourite tree

it’s a pity

the trees hide the sunset

summer is here

when the bumblebees arrive

Maya is with us

the others followed

(they were escorted out

through the window, though)

I’ve never followed a schedule

as loosely as this camp’s

but everything gets done

we had a night out

saw the free museums

of Good Thursday

paper mache sculptures

boxes of fiskur

are considered art

correction, the best kind

discovered the one and only

comedy club in town

my new favourite place

find me sitting in the first row

every Wednesday and Thursday

being an environmental volunteer

is apparently hilarious

besides chilling

we do workshops

about our ecological footprint

make tourism slower

and take a look at

the golden circle

one more time

minimize food waste

trying to save

the Italians’ orange farm

do You want to buy some?

eat apple pie

for three days in a row

cry for all the fallen trees

stop eating Digestives

and everything else you love

it contains palm oil

and we don’t understand

what that means

not everyone can live

as we do

don’t take it for granted

Start the week right – with (almost) a dip in the (still) ice cold ocean.

I apparently only make Lithuanian dishes for intercultural dinners. The vegan Kugelis tasted exactly like home.

New knowledge: you can make very realistic iPhones, grapefruits and Nerf guns out of paper.

An hour of trash hunting a day would keep the turtles alive.
